Julie Fournier — Artist Biography

In her extraordinarily varied and versatile career, Julie Fournier has portrayed and danced through themes ranging from whimsy and passion to the torment of loss.

Along the way, she has inspired a word not commonly associated with art or artists: trust.

While her original works have appeared in numerous galleries and exhibitions, Ms. Fournier’s skill with a brush was entrusted to a truly remarkable and unforgettable project.

The Henry Ford Museum

The world-renowned museum, with access to artistic talent from across the globe, selected Ms. Fournier to lead the dramatic and meticulous restoration of its historic 1913 carousel—reviving the classic, revolving carnival menagerie to its original splendor.

Her reputation for precision and artistry extends beyond fine art. She commands that same trust among custom car enthusiasts, with her pinstriping work featured on vintage muscle cars across North America.

A Career of Diverse Expression

Ms. Fournier has explored pop culture with a Warholian sensibility—her Pee-wee Herman homage hangs in London, England—and her erotic works have been long-standing highlights of The Dirty Show. Each chapter of her career reflects a fearless approach to new mediums and new forms of expression.
